Readerware Release Notes

Readerware 4.0 Beta 3:

Readerware 4.00 Beta 3 is now available.

When you rename the standard database columns, the search list is now updated. The search list now includes the new column names.

If the Advanced Search Window was minimized, nothing happened when you clicked on the Adv. Search button. We now restore the window.

The Contains search operator was not working correctly with a Status search.

There is now an option to display the saved searches list in the toolbar. Select the Preferences menu item, then Toolbars.

The database file selection dialog now insures that you select the correct database type. It was possible to open a music database in the book program for example.

Some users reported that displaying the Preferences dialog could take 10 or more seconds, this is now fixed.

Several users asked that the Item ID, the Book ID, Album ID etc. be included in the detail view when editing items. The ID is now included in the title bar along with other item information when the detail view is displayed. We also have a new Summary page template that includes the ID under the image. Select the Summary with ID template.

RWServer Config input validation was looking at disabled databases. We no longer validate entries if the database is disabled.

Auto-Catalog preferences were not always saved correctly.

When changing the default search, the search was not saved correctly. The new operator setting was not being saved which could produce unexpected results.

Fixed a problem merging contributor entries.

The Title drop down list in the detail view was incorrect.

Sorting by Series Number was not working in some locations like Europe.

Video ID barcode labels were not printing the ID.

Updated help pages.

The loan tracker dialog did not include the Book ID.

In Readerware 4 Music, we corrected an error using the Discogs API.

Readerware 4.0 Beta 2:

Readerware 4.00 Beta 2 is now available.

After converting a Readerware 3 database to Readerware 4 format or cancelling the conversion, the Readerware 3 database was not closed. This meant that you could not run Readerware 3 until you closed Readerware 4. This has been fixed, the Readerware 3 database is now closed as soon as the conversion completes.

If you had changed the default search in Readerware 3, it was possible that the default search changed in Readerware 4. When converting from Readerware 3, Readerware 4 will now always use the default search set in Readerware 3.

Fixed a problem clicking on a Status link in the table view.

When renaming the standard database column names, it was possible to use the same name multiple times. This was confusing and also caused problems when you displayed previously hidden columns. Readerware will now display an error if you have duplicate column names. If you set duplicate names in beta 1, you will receive the error the next time you change any preferences. The issue must be resolved before preferences can be saved.

We were not handling JDBC conversion errors well. We now always display a specific error message.

Searching user defined Y/N columns was not working.

Changed the borrower database error messages in RWServer Config when configuring Readerware Client/Server Edition. The messages were not clear.

Empty lines in an ISBN/UPC file could be rejected.

Fixed some character encoding problems during auto-catalog on Linux.

Fixed a column name typo in Readerware 4 Books.

In Readerware 4 Music, we now display all artists in the detail view Summary tab.
