1.I am both taken aback and disappointed at the ASTI's decision to withdraw from talks regarding the Leaving Certificate in 2021. At no stage of discussions today did the ASTI indicate its intention to take this action.

Tonight government has announced additional measures to curb the spread of Covid-19. For the safety of society and to help our students and school communities minimise their close contacts, government has taken the decision to extend school holidays by 3 days until January 11th.
