I’m the first openly Black queer women ever elected in Florida-at any level.
Our team was led by a Black woman. It was anchored by women and women of color. We won because we defined ourselves for ourselves.
Brb- I’m crying now.
43,405 individuals have been vaccinated in Manatee County.

Of that number- only 793 have been Black folks. 1,077 have been Hispanic folks.
But y’all want to limit it to TWO zip codes. Make it make sense because the math ain’t mathing.
Shout out to every OVERqualified woman who second guesses herself and meanwhile mediocre men have all the audacity.

It’s exhausting here.
I offered an amendment HB 1455 (THC cap bill) to include sickle cell disease as a qualifying medical condition. Sickle cell is a disease that affects the Black community.

It was voted down. Another way to add to the inequitable history of marijuana and the Black community.
