Just for absolute clarity, nothing the Prime Minister said tonight affects when schools return in Scotland. I am working with Local Authorities, Directors of Education, Teaching Unions and Parents to agree a way forward for Scotland. #StayHomeSaveLives

To any families returning from holiday in countries that require a period of quarantine, please do not send your children to school until you have complied with all of the requirements. This is vital to keep everyone safe and our schools open. Many thanks.

Given Friday’s further restrictions on social distancing we need to take more action to keep numbers in schools to an absolute minimum. S4-6 pupils SHOULD NOT attend school to complete coursework. @sqanews supports this. Grateful to all schools for their support to young people.

Schools and nurseries will close from this Friday @NicolaSturgeon announces. I appreciate this will be very disruptive but it is necessary. We are working with Councils to support young people preparing for @sqanews exams, are vulnerable and whose parents are essential workers.
